2008. Or 1970's?

Today - was I thinking about all the ways it seems like the 70's. Which is how I found myself at the water temple. It is my new place of worship. While I was there I took a few shots, and came up with these items.

1. 1970's - Gas crisis. 2008 - Gas crisis. Huh.

2. 1970's - California water crisis. 2008 - the same. Creepy.

3. 1970's - Environmentalism is born. 2008 - environmentalism is reborn.

4. 1970's - Horrible women's fashion. 2008 - ditto

5. 1970's - The US was in a recession, but Japan and Germany were prospering. 2008 - China and India are prospering.

That's all I got for now. Feel free to add or call bullshit.

  1. If we hadn't responded to the earlier gas crisis by inventing the SUV and continuing to drive as if cheap gas were part of the Second Amendment...

If we'd asked why we subsidize the farming of crops like cotton, sugar, and rice that are grown more cheaply elsewhere...

If we'd wondered about the relative wisdom of building cities in the desert (Clark Co., NV: 1970 - 277,000; 2007 est. - 1,954,000)...

Perhaps a few of the similarities would be less so.
