Remember, the only thing that matters is looking superior to others.

If Lockdowns Are Needed, Why Did More People Die In States That Locked Down Than Those That Didn't?.

I am so ..... fucking.... sick .... of this topic. But, if this were true - why is Hawaii all the way to the left of this graph with the fewest deaths per million? We can all agree they had the most severe lockdown. RIGHT?  And why is North Dakota almost all the way at the right of the graph? I know people never actually look at the charts and only at the agenda.

Hawaii is the only State that can claim a true lockdown.

I stopped drinking and driving when I was younger because I got way too close to the line once. I thought - if I killed someone I could never live with myself. I know the pain of losing people. I could never do that to someone else.

So, if I have to wear a mask to make OTHER people feel more comfortable - I am going to do that. Even thought I fucking hate them. It's NOT a character flaw. And I still am really stunned by people who think it is.

  1. I don't have any answers but I do know that Hawaii does have a special circumstance in that it is an island and most people arrive by aircraft. That gives them a lot more control over travelers.

I agree that it is easier to wear a mask and make other people more comfortable.

  2. I too do not have any answers. But this virus didnt come from Canada or Mexico. It came here on aircraft.

  3. I was just going to say the same thing. I don't think Hawaii should be on the same graph as the rest of the states. As an island its MUCH easier to enforce restrictions. An island (or China) is the perfect location for a proper lockdown and quarantine type situation to work. Sure it comes in on planes, but the community os so (relatively) small and contained that its easier to contain it after the fact.

So basically: lockdowns work, IF you're an island (or China). I don't have an answer for Dakota.

  4. See... I think the ~rules work if people follow them. But they won't. On one hand, apparently restrictions work said Hawaii, Australia, and Isreal. Which makes it seem like I'm pro lockdown which I am not in any way. I only wish people would follow the rules.

It made me laugh the other day when everybody started saying if Israel can do it - so can we. Americans wouldn't even accept what it takes to get a FLIGHT to Israel. It's sort of completely on brand for Americans to want all the benefit without any of the work.

All I know is that we all better get it together pretty quickly or this thing is going to mutate into something we can't control. Even Texas just popped up with their own var. Then those people who think so highly of their immune systems are going to get to put their money where their mouths are. This thing is like a ripple in a pond that becomes a tsunami.

The air travel element is probably mute at this point because it seems it has convergent evolution. Meaning that it develops the same characteristics despite being home grown on many different continents.

Having said that - India is freaking out of control, and I don't even think you have to self isolate when you come back from there.
