Coming to a city near you - if you live in California.

Mandatory Water Restrictions in Place for Fremont, Newark, and Union City.

"New mandatory water restrictions are in place in some cities in Alameda County, and people who don't follow the rules could end up with no water at all."

This is how they are going to enforce it.

Rule breakers get a written warning at first, followed by a knock on the door for a second violation. If they still don't comply, the district will shut the water off and could file misdemeanor charges.  Read the whole article from nbcbayarea.

Shit is about to get real. Although...it's the best kept secret here in California. We just had rain and the hills are green again. Out of sight, out of mind. I just ripped out that backyard and I don't want to stick in a new lawn until the fall. All of the people who want to get renters in there want a lawn. I'm not sure how that is going to work out. I'm not sure any of us will have lawns by the end of the year.

But Californians are an optimistic bunch. Even in the face of real science. It would take 3 times the average rainfall to be back to normal. But they all think we will be okay. April showers produce May flowers and all.

The fake grass is pretty realistic, you should just install that and then you wont have to mow it. DF

I thought about it. But isn't it batshit expensive?

I have no idea, but it probably is. Not sure how it would hold up to pets either. Still, no h20 less yard work what is not to love

Well, it doesn't add any value to the house. And one day I will have to rip it out. Plus I think those plastic lawns are bullshit. I will laugh for days when landfills start complaining they are choked with evil plastic. They bitch about how long it takes for water bottles to break down. Stick a giant plastic rug in there.

A church in my town installed one of these lawns. It actually starts to fade remarkably quickly.
