That's a shame.

Ford and Lincoln cancel Rivian-powered electric vehicle due to the pandemic.

I honestly have zero opinion about this truck. I only know that it's the only car I've never been able to get close to. I have NEVER seen a crush of people like it. I couldn't even get good outside pictures! It was wall to wall people.

They were also handing out the best swag. I would have at least liked to get another shot at seeing the inside though.

Ever since Ford's infamous death wobble bullshit, I've figured it wasn't even worth getting in a Ford.

It's pretty shit when Ford can't engineer the front end suspension right and that they faked the part looking beefy by putting a shroud over one end of it.

Fortunately the after-market has a solution that works better than Ford's bullshit recall.

Also, if you don't need an F250 or F350 for heavy loads, you already have the better truck ...

    BTW ...

I have a dream, that one day people can live and work at the mall, having their homes in the former husks of the once great but now totally irrelevant mall anchors.

"Macy's, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus, and now Saks Fifth Avenue: in just a few weeks, the four core pillars and anchor tenants of the US mall sector will file for bankruptcy."

    Also, Dillard's has been hurting.

Where the fuck will I get my Gold Toe socks now that JC Penney is closing? :-)

Oh, yeah, Amazon, where I bought my last bunch of shirts and underwear as well, because none of these Amazing Mall Anchors could be bothered with keeping anything in stock that was even close to fitting my neck size.

Maybe Amazon will install an industrial-sized set of delivery lockers in each of these New Urbanist things that will become popular after some people start thinking that they need to live closer to what's left of their supply chains instead of living closer to "the office", whatever that is anymore.

What's going to be left, Von Maur and Nordstrom?

Oh, wait, there'll always be Orange Julius. :-)

And Burlington Coat Factory, seems you can't kill one of those even with a large-scale nuclear missile barrage, and even if you do manage to score a hit, it'll live on as a Zombie Coat Factory anyway.

There's plenty of stuff closing in the smaller mall stores, but some of those you have to wonder how they were surviving in the first place.

How much shitty Made in China overpriced denim can you actually sell?

But all I have to say about JC Penney is ...

WHY WON'T YOU DIE, JC PENNEY?
*watches the market pump more bullets into JC Penney*
    WHY WON'T YOU DIE?
*still more bullets and V for JC Penney won't go down*
    WHY WON'T YOU DIE?

Seriously, even Sears and K-Mart got the hint eventually.

Now I want to see everything open up just so we can see what's going to stay closed, a sort of Retail Schadenfraud or last rites for the damned ...

I already miss Earth Fare in Ocala and Tallahassee though. *grumble*

  3. Oooh! Now do restaurants. For instance one of my favorite small places probably won't survive - but El Polo Loco won't die. Or Mels Diner. There is no justice in life.

The Tundra isn't a bad car. It's the first car I ever would buy another of. Able to get large speeding tickets. The roll down back window makes it so I don't have to have a full size bed. And the back seats flip up so I can put the girls large carrier in there, and two people could uncomfortably sleep there should there ever be an emergency. Put a few moving blankets down and it wouldn't even be bad really. And yes - we really did buy a truck based on whether we could sleep in the back. We live in an Earthquake zone. It's not even prepper or crazy to think you might need it.

About the lockdowns you asked about in other comments. I don't know that I have ever been in favor of the lockdowns. I think giving those of us who do want to lockdown the ability to do so helps. It at least helps cut the spread. But, there is a primal fear of lockdown. People will try to escape any way they can. So generally I think they have only limited benefit. Mostly to keep us safe from those idiots who don't believe it's real at all.
