How long can they circle the drain?

I haven't been going to Fry's these days because it makes me feel sad. Plus there is just nothing interesting to buy or browse right now.

But...... I had been hearing some crazy stories, like some stores are not even stocking 9 volt batteries, so we decided to pop in today. And it had to have been the saddest place on earth to work. Last time I was in a few months ago - I noticed they had widened all their isles.

But, this time you could tell they were just taking isles out because you can still see the outlines of them on the floors.

their battery isle was sparse, but I didn't check for 9 volts because the rest was just so shocking.

They haven't sold Mac stuff in a while, but they have never put anything else in its place.

The things they ARE selling is odd like backpacks.

And they were fully stocked on mace. Mr S. said that maybe they knew the apocalypse was coming and they needed to be prepared. which sort of does explain some of the stuff they are selling.



Stationary. You won't have the internets anymore when the apocalypse hits. So maybe you need old time paper.

The first three isles are toys, perfume, and as seen on TV. Really hard any electronics at all these days.









Staplers? Maybe to put up missing posters in the apocalypse?







And the sad thing about this whole thing is that it isn't completely Fry's fault. Google and facebook and those guys have sucked so much productivity out of the economy - there is just really nothing new to buy right now. Those guys said - screw making products - these humans are gold mines! Let's just make money off of that. And then they proceeded to buy, or destroy any company that had an actual product.

No one on earth can tell me that this is a "booming" economy. I am not a Trump hater or a never Trumper. I admitted voting for Trump before it was fashionable. I am a capitalist.

Looks like we are back to a single lidar configuration and cameras. Micro camera on the bumper. The front had this little device under the rear view mirror that looked to have four forward facing micro cams.

It's the most depressing thing to run into someone from one of those co-working spaces, and after listening to their pitch I immediately Google how much it costs for a for a space there.  Because I think they are totally wasting their money.

Snyder: The Latest Large Quakes Should Be Taken As A Warning By Everyone Still Living In California.

This article over on Zero Hedge has to be the clickbaityest thing ever right now. I will summarize for you.  When the next 'big one hits" we are all going to die or be swamped by water because the land will sink. But...... what if it doesn't sink? What if it goes up like a mountain?

I'm not going to say there won't be damage or deaths. But if there is anything I have learned about living in the quake zone - BUILDING CODES APPARENTLY WORK. Even down in Mexico these days you can have a magnitude 8 quake, and there is barely any damage. It's AMAZING! Really freaking amazing.

After the quake in Southern California all the people who lived through Loma Preitta got a little twitchy with PTSD. I was living in East Palo Alto at he time in a rent controlled building which I was sure had fallen. Even though I was working in MountainView (the next town over)  I couldn't get home for hours. If the big one hits - don't even bother trying to get on the freeway for a few hours. You won't get anywhere.

Building codes however are much better than the last quakes. But people who like to hype this crap never take the into account. Mag 8's aren't what they used to be.

Meanwhile my moon lamp is still cushioned with shammies. The glass moves independently, and I'm pretty shocked the small quakes it's been through hasn't chipped it already.

Today's bitcoin story.

A couple of days ago, a guy I know told me he knew a guy that was a bitcoin millionaire. Allegedly he put a hundred bucks in early on, and now he is a millionaire on paper.

I of course thought this was bullshit. People tell a lot of fibs in life. So today when I saw him I was like - why doesn't your bitcoin millionaire friend cash out and become a real millionaire?

He replied - He can't figure out how to sell it all. Which is kind of the craziest crap I've ever heard. What good is being a millionaire on paper - if you can't cash out?

It also probably explains why the bitcoin price is still so high.
