The first 6 buck gas.

This is consistently the most expensive place I know to get gas. Even last night I was like - how can they get away with it? Mr S. said - well obviously they can because they haven't gone out of business yet. I think it helps they have a Fatburger inside. But... have they seen Fatburgers problem lately?

I was expecting it to be at 6 or only slightly above.... but even I had to let out a little chuckle on 6.29 a gallon. In who's world! Oh yeah ours.

Interesting how that went sideways in the US: that's about the same in USD as Switzerland pays in CHF, litres to gallons equivalent.

The past few weeks have definitely been some of the most stupid in Switzerland, including the period of The Rona which people are now starting to forget about.

That's because Switzerland totally torpedoed its neutrality just to make some kind of "moral point" with Russia.

Neutral, as in neutral since 1848 if you count the Federal Republic, since 1291 if you go a bit earlier, and maybe split the difference in the late 17th century if you want to put the Fail in the "lasting peace" of the Westphalian treaties.

Because of making this "moral point", and because the Bank of International Settlement couldn't resist doing one more this week, now Switzerland is absolutely not a safe haven.

And so now I'm looking at property in Serbia because it's not on anyone's shit list this week and seems to have its own internal security in mind.

Serbia stopped exporting corn because they're that worried about the omnipresent and ongoing shitshow this all is right now.

It's not about Russia or Ukraine, that's just the proxy war for the bigger fight with more parties involved.

Not helping the situation is that Ukraine has been for years a huge honey pot for grifters of the nationalist, globalist, and absurdist types.

How else do you get "ten percent for the big guy"?

It's like Haiti was (and still is) for North America, a big melting pot of foreign political ambitions along with a long lineage of corrupt leaders.

You'll be surprised how much trade went through the region.

And so the supply chain stuff gets even weirder and less predictable than it's been over the past two years.

Now instead of flying in just tech stuff, I'm figuring we need to be flying in some other goods just to be sure we have them, not so much as a service to the Swiss as much as a service to make sure the company's employees are going to stay fed and warm.

We've had the space but we didn't want to pay for the fuel to fill it.

But for you, where's gas going to stop?

    $8? $10? Higher?

And that's just the part of this you're seeing so far.

Fertilizer prices have more than doubled. Maybe you can take actual delivery if you show up with your own transport.

Does it cost a lot? Fuck yeah it costs a lot.

Transport networks are heavily optimized which is what one-off cargo transport rentals very much are not.

But having the materials on hand and being able to continue with Business Almost As Usual is better than deciding to fold up like a cheap tent.

Still, I've been getting around ... with huge caveats.

It was weird sitting on the tarmac at Changi International totally unable to get off the aircraft.

The closed border that you could fly into for cargo but couldn't cross into for a visit was just more special weirdness on top of this whole mess, and it's still not over.

I'd have settled for just a few minutes to walk around the Buddhist arcana of Haw Par Villa to clear my head of it all.

Right now I'll settle for exploring more of Serbia.

I have no idea how this is going to go down, but I have a funny feeling that if I move to Serbia, certain personal relationships aren't going to follow exactly the same ... but the tune will probably rhyme.

No closure on the paperwork, BTW, so that's not exactly making me feel like this has been time well spent ... in a now non-neutral country.

I already have investor status elsewhere, so this is just about solidifying a certain situation, and if it's not going to work out?

What's the worst that could happen?

Oh, yeah, the Russians could nuke Davos, figuring they'd get rid of some of the most evil henchmen in the world if they did that ...

A few weeks ago that idea might have been good for a laugh.

  2. Out here in South Texas, regular is at 3.99 and diesel at 4.99. Thanks Joe! This is up about a $1 in the last two to three weeks, and the refineries are along the Texas Gulf Coast.

I'm happy to see the shitlib Californians suffer from their stupidity, but I'm guessing it's still Trump's fault.

  3. Same honestly. But if I lived in Texas I'd watch to punch Ted Cruz in his big fat face. I don't see him doing that much to help your State. I mean.... you are the oil capitol of America!@

    1. No Republicans are really doing much for anybody. The worse one is Cornyn endorsed by Trump in 2020 when there were better primary candidates that Trump could have endorsed running a communist military bitch that at least was upfront about wanting to screw us over. Cornyn could not even support the Texas AG for suing over election fraud. Ted was willing to work on that one.

    2. It's frustrating. Right? All I know is....if that Jan 6 shit makes it hard for Trump to run - there is going to be a huge problem. Because it's not only the politicians, it's the base. I wish they would quit trying to recapture the last election and work on WINNING the next. Our brand is sort of snatching defeat away from victory.

Serbia?!? That is some tax avoiding shit. I admit... I'm not sure what your end goal is. But it always good to see you.

At least you get to see the world? It seems like a whole lot of effort to find out that all governments are the same. You should have stayed home.
