A few hours ago I got a fire evacuation alert on my phone. I'm a few miles from the fire. But as I was trying to figure out in town where it was, I noticed that those fires basically exploded over night. EVERYWHERE. I have fires on three sides of me now.
Apparently Boulder Creek and Bonny Dune are under evacuation. Bonny Doon is right up to the ocean. People are saying Bonny Doon is gone, but I haven't seen picture or video confirmation.
2020 is just like sandpaper every day.

My son & his family left Boulder Creek around 2am, he said the evacuation was ordered. They went to Davis.
ReplyDeleteI talked to my other son in Santa Rosa yesterday, he was concerned but hadn't left yet.
Wow. I don't remember the last time Boulder Creek burned. The last large fire I remember was in Soquel about 20 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI hope your son's house will be okay. Thinking about you.
I didn't know you live up that way. Beautiful but bare country. Was up there on service call not long ago and told my boss that it's tinder for the flame and it will probably go up. One idiot is all it takes.

ReplyDeleteBeing evacuated sucks. At first it’s a little exciting, you watch the news non-stop, then reality sets in and there is no laundry, cloth, comfort items. They always wait way longer than you think to let people back in. Hope you’re squirreled away someplace comfortable. we’ve had 3 evacuations in the last 5 years. It’s very disruptive to your life. DF
ReplyDeleteIs this really fine?

DF - Yeah. That's pretty much another reason I won't evacuate unless death is imminent. They don't let you back in for a really long time. I for sure would get arrested trying to sneak back in.
ReplyDeleteI see what you are saying with the land grab though. Now that I'm looking to move and thinking about more land. ~Lots~ of pre-forclosure stuff coming up in the MLS. Take your time.
