Great fucking job America.

US Sees 35,000 New Cases, Biggest Jump Since April, As Houston Warns ICUs Could Be Overwhelmed By Tomorrow: Live Updates.

To say I'm super mad is an understatement. You see... apparently we spent three months locked down for no fucking reason. The roving mob of Jenny McArthy's just couldn't keep their shit together. To say we recked our economy for nothing is fantasy, because it would have been wrecked anyway. But now they've made it so it's going to be wrecked for longer.

It's so typical that the minority rules the majority in America.  And so here we are. Back at square one. All we asked for is that people wear masks, so we could try to get some degree back to normal. But noooooooo. It's against your liberties. If there is anything I know about America - everyone thinks the rules do not apply to them. We have to be the laziest country on the planet. People can't even be bothered to wear a mask which is about the least amount of effort possible to try to get this tamped down.  People are such assholes.

I'm fucking pissed. I don't think people cared one fuck about the economy. They just wanted to form packs and thumb their noses at people. It just really sucks that Americans don't have to live by their bullshit ideas. It's super fucked up.

I don't even understand why people are blaming Trump for this shit. He only opened the economy because people were literally done with lockdown. Even before Memorial Day there was obvious lockdown fatigue. But on Memorial Day - every single house in my neighborhood had a home party. So here we are.

  1. It was always really questionable in the first place whether those masks really prevented any transmission along with the lock down.

Those vulnerable should have been quarantined.

Even Fauci has issued contradictory information/opinion since the beginning. Trump did his part by restricting travel from China and Europe.

Long term, we are all going to get exposed to this and if you have health issues, well, good luck.

  2. Cases doesn't mean hospitalizations. Most deaths were people who would've died soon anyway.

Masks are not good. You're breathing in your own exhaust:

    We're being lied to bigly.

  3. I am so tired of this. 40% of Americans are obese. That, is the vulnerable population. We've just spent a decade coddling kids with fucking peanut allergies! They are also vulnerable. The largest mount of people dying are in the 40-60 year old range. So ALL middle age people are vulnerable. If you start adding up all the groups that are vulnerable - it would probably be more than 50% of the population. Which is about how many people are locked down now. So what is the fucking difference?

You should let doctors know that masks don't matter. I'm sure they will love to hear it. And just additionally more than 500 health care professional have died of this. I guess they don't matter.

Additionally - China had a moral obligation to alert the world of this virus. THEY DIDN'T. FULL STOP. They also had a moral obligation to let the world see their information about it. THEY DIDN'T.

People just need to listen to themselves right now.

  4. Where are you getting the stats from? Average age is over 80.

Do be angered by a false narrative. They want us living in fear of the DOOM VIRUS.

  5. It sort of depends on the region, but I will say I misspoke. In California people over 80 only account for 45% of deaths.

    Who is this "they"?

  6. Cuomo did a great job of killing more elderly with his asinine order to put COVID cases in nursing homes. Texas is imperfect, but I'm glad I don't live under total leftist lunacy - yet.

  7. I'm not sure what is going on with you Leaperman. I have never had talk to anybody before about their comments, because people normally self moderate - but your self awareness is really malfunctioning right now.

People are lucky if I even watch ONE of the videos they post. I watch less then 20% of videos ever sent to me. If I strolled up to a site and saw a guy comment bombing I would be like - what the hell is up with this guy.

Please don't comment bomb. At least consolidate it into one giant verbose post like Texas Refugee. Thank you.

  8. I have.....issues....with the way new cases are being reported. For one thing, testing is finally available to more people, so comparing today's positive test counts to the positive test counts from two months ago isn't correct. For another people are getting multiple tests done (such as repeated tests before medical procedures), and each test is getting counted separately, instead of by person. In addition we're getting mixed feedback as to how accurate some of the testing is, more and more articles as to quantities of false positives or false negatives.....still no positive cases at my work, which seems really odd given how widely spread its supposed to be....

  9. The whole testing thing has been a colossal failure. Even the antibody tests are flawed. No one knows what the real numbers are. We can all agree that no one trusts any of the testing procedures.

And besides I thought the new standard was that it doesn't matter at all if people are positive. It only matters if they die.

  10. Well, if you require medical treatment I'll count you too ;)

Honestly, if everyone'd stop getting pissy about it, and stay polite about it, give people distance if they want it, don't get pissy over mask wearing or lack of mask wearing (and really, I don't care how effective a mask MAY be, more than half the folks who're wearing masks aren't wearing them right, which negates the whole possible help it MIGHT have been anyway), and wash your hands, and don't touch your face, and GET OVER IT. The constant PANIC over it is just driving people on both sides of the divide into further division, which isn't helping AT ALL.

As someone who has to deal with the general public every freaking day there's a couple things I'd like to see come out of this, though I'm not holding my breath.

1: a better realization how DIRTY the general public is and maybe its time for people to just be cleaner in their daily habits for fucks sake

2: a realization that things like the flu can kill and maybe we need to take that a bit more seriously

3: and that maybe if companies actually allowed sick employees to stay home instead of trying to drag them into work as soon as they can function they'd stop spreading sickness further

But yah, not holding my breath about all that. I figure that I'm more likely to get permanent requirements to wear a mask at work, and permanent FREAK OUT OVER VIRUSES!!! which is SO not helpful.

In tech we often use the phrase - don't let perfect be the enemy of the good. Which is what people are experiencing right now. If everything isn't perfect then it doesn't work. Peoples stringent beliefs are what is dividing people.

Masks are not perfect. Most of the masks people wear are not even efficient enough to keep out the virus. If I'm in close contact I will wear an n95, but most of the time I wear the cheap ones. The purpose of the mask is to protect you from me. Not the other way around. All people have this choice.

Even if people do not wear them correctly 100 percent of the time, this doesn't mean they aren't helpful to some degree. And any degree is helpful.

The best thing the CDC could do is show people how many particulates you shed just in the normal activity of talking. I saw this early in the outbreak by accident. I was at a conference and was bussed there. At one point one of the people was talking to us at the front of the bus and the sun was hitting him just in the right way. Like in those twilight hours when you can see all the dust floating in the air. You could see the tiny particles coming out of his mouth. I will never forget it. The CDC needs to show people this. Not an animation. Not a representation. But exactly that. Backlit so people can see for themselves. You will never feel the same way. Intertwine your fingers with each other and make a large circle. That is your spittle radius. Any and all attempts at minimizing this is beneficial. Nothing will be perfect. That doesn't mean it's not helpful to some degree.

We are tactile people. There is no way we are not going to stop touching things. Everyone is happy about not shaking hands anymore, but at least that is voluntary. Touch screens are not. Those should go away.

And in regards to number 3. - While I agree in theory......a lot of these respiratory illnesses take weeks to resolve. How does a company afford that? I have one or two colds every year that take a month or two to go away. There is no company alive that can operate under those requirements.

I frankly am at the Darwin stage. I'm armed with a bag full of alcohol swabs. Everyone else can just roshambo it out. At this point I want to say it's unbelievable people treat others this way. But it's not. People are just awful.
