Good.

"This Is The Final Straw": Elon Musk Melts Down, Says He's Suing Alameda County &; Moving Tesla Out Of California.

I think Elon gets way more money from the Californian taxpayer than we get in benefit. He doesn't make any profit. He just bleeds us dry with subsidies. Let some other State pay for all of his shit.

The State almost gifted him that plant after NUMMI went out. He doesn't go anywhere that doesn't give him free rent. (in my opinion - which I'm only saying because he will try to destroy whoever he wants and hope you run out of money first)

Also... I find it funny that people are so upset about Jeff Bezos not paying any taxes  - but Elon does MUCH worse stuff and no one says anything.

So really... good riddance. Let him grift elsewhere. Texas seems to be welcoming him with open arms which makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. YOU GO TEXAS. Hope you like paying for stuff.

I knew Texas would become crazier than California eventually.

  1. You know what is crazy? If you want to start a private security company in Calif, you have to pay $2,000 in permit startup fees to the state. If you want a guard card, it’s only $50 and then you can get a swell job that pays $22k per year with no benefits, but if you want to be your own boss and set your own rates (since private security is so ridiculously expensive), it’s a $2k buyin and for what? What do we gain by having them collect this fee? It only makes it harder for the poor to be industrious and entrepreneurial and the public gains nothing from the oversight. Calif doesn’t give you anything for free, they grift off of the hard working people and businesses that live here. Texas won’t need to give away anything to Tesla, just the simple promise that they won’t setup BS red tape and bogus fees in order to stifle competition is enough to make it seem like paradise to most business owners. df

  2. I completely agree. I've been saying this for years that California makes it prohibitively expensive for business owners. No one cares. It's precisely why I supported the SALT limit. Because people will just vote for every tax increase and not feel the repercussions because they get written off on your tax bill. Yet people keep voting in these rules.

Having said that - if you think Texas isn't going to have to give away anything - I have a bridge to sell you. I don't understand why people are completely incensed at Jeff Bezos, but not at all incensed at what Elon does. He doesn't even make a profit to tax. He just takes and takes and takes.

Now.. Texas will have lower overhead costs... but if you think Texas will get any benefit at all from this guy......I just don't know what to say.

"That was not the pitch in 2014 when Nevada beat rival bids from California and New Mexico to land the Gigafactory. It did so with exemptions from sales-and-use, property and general business taxes for 10 to 20 years, adding up to an estimated and unprecedented $1.4bn. The previous record, to lure an Apple server farm, was $88m."

A bit busy here, even though I'm still trying to get my ass figuratively and literally out of here, but ...

Mike Rowe wants you to walk with him through this "safety third" thing of his.

Maybe you just want the video version instead.

"The State almost gifted [Elon Musk] that plant after NUMMI went out."

So it's about what California wants rather than what Elon Musk wants.

There's this myth that he's been working for the California taxpayer, so let's take that and consider it from another angle: who do the police really work for?

They work for a system that pays them money, and that system uses threats to coerce you to pay it so the system can pay them.

The police don't work for you, they work for the defense of a system that's been created to make it seem like you get stuff for your money. Most of your money goes to big business, and you don't have a say in it, and so you actually defend a fascist government.

So while you think your first thing to complain about is how Elon Musk bleeds the State of California dry, what you should be is happy that he's figured out a way how to route some of that money that would be used to terrorize you into stuff that typically doesn't.

What you should be hoping for is that Elon Musk takes the State of California to the cleaners, because that money won't be available to put California National Guard units in your neighborhoods later this year.

Now Texas wants to play this game?

Texans should be happy that Elon Musk will waste lots of their money that could be used to beat the shit out of them at the hands of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

And actually if there's anything I'm a refugee from more than anything else, it's the ball-fondling, butt-sucking Texas DPS in their role as arbitrary "public order" compliance officers of the State of Texas.

These Texas DPS caulk-swallowers used to hang out at the old Austin airport to bust everyone's balls about how they were waiting for taxis, because they didn't have anything else better to do.

Back when I lived in Austin, these fuckers actually arrested a well-known "conspiracy theorist" in the making for buying too much lab glassware at a head shop up in North Austin.

What did this "conspiracy theorist" want it for?

Coffee cups. (The same reason I had it, actually.)

Yes, the Texas DPS is that fucking stupid.

On a more personal note, I received an offer I probably shouldn't refuse.

"If you come back to work for us, we could help you get a Swiss residence permit, and it's not like you'd have to work full-time ..."

I have to say it's really damned tempting with all of these Preparations for Boogaloo O'Clock going on right now across America. I'm wondering how much longer it'll be before that drive across America that I did a while back will no longer be possible because of Locally Enforced Illegal Mandates Restricting Inter-State Commerce.

Meanwhile, Florida and Georgia appear to be doing OK so far.

Could you imagine being back in Washington State with Jay "I Heart Lockdowns & Mandatory Compliance" Inslee as the Master of Ceremonies?

I know you're out there, with rage in your eyes and your megaphones.

In retrospect, getting forced out of a shitty Circle D state was one of the better things that's happened to me.

There are worse things than being stuck in a town like Zurich.

Seems to have worked out for Tina Turner ...

  4. He's not wrong. Men have risked their lives to work for probably hundreds of years. But what works for guys "who risk their lives" is not going to work for soft handed men that don't risk their lives and breath the same recirculated air all day. Those guys are typically insured by a company for 2 and 1/2 times their salary. It's not going to take that many people dying in an office to really make things interesting. That's not even including the suing part.

"There's this myth that he's been working for the California taxpayer,"

No... there's the truth that he's stealing from the California taxpayer. I fixed it for you.

As I have said many, many, times before - I don't believe lockdowns work. I mostly have a problem with people comparing us to other countries and saying - see! They didn't have a problem! When those countries did things that absolutely no American would tolerate. Like South Korea. So while I don't agree with the lockdowns - I also know that we are not a cooperative culture. We are not going to have the same result.

People should be able to move about freely, but we should also be allowed to protect ourselves by not being forced into Googlecomplexes. We have worked very hard to make it so going to work didn't kill people. I think that is still the goal - right?

  5. You said- "We have worked very hard to make it so going to work didn't kill people. I think that is still the goal - right?"

    A goal? Maybe...
In the lands of "if you don't work, you don't eat" and it's neighbor "everyone pays rent", that goal can sometimes be overlooked or just no where in sight. With everything closed down here those two lands are expanding their borders.

We live in a world where the age old rule "if you can keep it it's yours" is still available in a great many places.
Growing up in a society that works very hard to make that rule "not applicable here" it is easy to forget about it. We may forget the rule but it's still there, waiting for things to turn bad, for people to get desperate and someone sure seems to be pushing us towards that desperation.

  6. I think I understand what you are saying, but then are also not sure at all. It's pretty vague. I think I might live in both of those camps. But yeah. I get it. People underestimate how easy it is to lose all your stuff through not really any fault of your own. I live every day thinking I could lose my stuff tomorrow. Because it could rally be true. That is always the reality in Silicon Valley and now elsewhere.

There is none of this that doesn't suck.

OMG YOU WERE SO CLOSE ...

... to realizing that taxation is theft.

So Elon Musk steals money from "The California Taxpayer" ... big deal.

Who does California steal it from first?

Oh, but that way leads to temptation and ... anarchy? :-)

  8. Oh - no, I realize it - but I'm too pretty to go to jail.

Twitter's anarchist chicks are typically much hotter than conservative chicks, so you are probably pretty enough to go to jail. :-)

Besides, once Anarcho-Capitalist Land invents flying vehicles that don't drop out of the sky like these drone bricks you keep blogging about, where you're going, you won't need any roads.

BUT WHO WILL STILL BUILD THE ROADS???

... ahahahaha such a joke, those serfs of the State will still have roads. :-)

  10. Truth be told, I've already been to juvenile jail. My family thought it was best to get your debauchery out before you were an adult. And it turns out they were right.
