Fun to see "it's just the flu" bros still all over the place. There is no possible way we could have locked this country down a month ago.

People have to start dying for this to be taken seriously. Rumor is in Seattle - they won't even do cashless deliveries anymore. Remember a week or two I talked about the paranoia between neighbors. Well... that has started.

Six Bay Area counties will be ordered to shelter in place
(the url was for the LA Times)

Six counties in the San Francisco Bay Area — San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda — will be placed under a shelter-in-place directive today by public health officials in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, San Mateo Mayor Joe Goethals said.

  2. Yup. I'm in that cluster. I even got a push message on my old timey landline. Usually amber alerts come over the cell.

  3. I wonder what the stores are like now. It was crazy ~before~ they thought they were getting locked down.

  4. Modesto is in Stanislaus County. I don't think they have announced lockdown yet. Even mine doesn't start until midnight.

"The lower the intelligence the more deadly ..."

Actually, I could tell you how it'd work without sounding like a dystopian health care fiction novel set in a hypothetical England of 2021.

No, I'm not going to tell you how it'd work.

Oppenheimer was right about having remorse about what he had done.

Even joking about it and having what-if games can be problematic.

The collapse of quantum states is really a bitch, so if you want to read what was there, you'll have to figure out how to access that alternate quantum reality before it decays into noise after the removal of energy from it and the inevitable entropic decline that follows. :-)

Let's say that some hypotheticals of yours are not all that hypothetical.

Also, this virus actually does select for a limited form of intelligence, which you'll come to understand if you think about where it came from, where it's been, and where it's going soon ...

What was it that Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle wrote in "Oath of Fealty"?

"Think of it as evolution in action."

I have the perfect dystopian movie for you to watch right now.

There may even be a full copy of it (for now) on YouTube.

"Yeah, but I don't want to be here, I want to leave, I want to go home ..."
