Yup. We are all completely baffled. Said in the most sarcastic way.

Trump wildfire tweets spark bewilderment about California water.

State’s Delta smelt plan calls for more water flowing to sea.

"With Delta smelt numbers at all-time lows, state officials on Tuesday released a list of more than a dozen projects they’re hoping to undertake in the next few years in a last-ditch effort to stave off the fish’s extinction.

One of those plans is sure to be contentious. The “Delta Smelt Resiliency Strategy” released Tuesday by the California Natural Resources Agency calls for allowing between 85,000 and 200,000 acre-feet of extra water to wash out to sea this summer to bolster smelt habitat.

That’s no small amount: 200,000 acre-feet is equal to a quarter of Folsom Lake’s capacity, though not all the amount released would come from Folsom."

(emphasis mine) Ya know how many smelt exist now? Zero point zero.

Even the hivemind of Wikipedia had this to say about the Delta smelt: "A survey in April 2015 found only one individual delta smelt."

Do you know why Austin's tech sector is doing so well?

Californians apparently have to escape to somewhere.

I may not like what they've done to the place, but compared to California, the People's Republic of Austin is nowhere near as nutty ...

Just throwing that out there in case Neo Needs An Exit. :-)

  2. Believe me.... every time I go to any different city I think - would Neo like to live here? I think Pacifica is the only city I didn't start checking real estate prices. I know it doesn't count because it's still here. I just haven't been out of the state this year.

That whole smelt thing was effed up. We were in the 5th year of a drought. They were giving the farmers ZERO allocation of water hitting our economy by BILLIONS and they were still flushing water down the streams to try and save them. And now those fish are effing dead.

But, there are some Californians that think the ocean owns that water and we are stealing by diverting it for food. Seriously.

  3. Besides.... Austin is more like Oregon with BBQ. My area isn't quite that crazy.
