Scott Adams agrees with Mr S.

"I’m having a fun time watching President Trump flood the news cycle with so many stories and outrages that no one can keep up. Here’s how the math of persuasion works in this situation:

1 outrage out of 3 headlines in a week: Bad Persuasion

25 outrages out of 25 headlines in a week: Excellent Persuasion

At the moment there are so many outrages, executive orders, protests, and controversies that none of them can get enough oxygen in our brains. I can’t obsess about problem X because the rest of the alphabet is coming at me at the same time."

Read more here at the article titled Outrage Dilution.

This is funny because it was exactly the impression Mr S. got and I posted about it here in More Conversations with Mr S. on Wednesday. Exerpt below.

"On a slightly different topic - last night we were watching Doomberg before going to bed when we had the following conversation because on twitter last night you could kinda see what was on schedule for today for the Trump Admin.

Me - do you think the world will melt down tomorrow?

Him - It's like an outrage a day. Maybe he is doing that on purpose.

Me - whaaaat?

Him - Maybe he is trying to overwhelm the system.

I look at him sideways.

Him - Well, you can only be so outraged. Maybe he's trying to drop all this stuff so it tires people out.

Me - Like the way they make protesters continuously walk now?

Him - Yeah."

  1. Trump is playing their media asses like a fine violin and they can't even see it. Real cleaver of him to harp about the crowd numbers into last week which made headlines while writing up one EO after another.

I'm not happy about all the EO's, but hate the game, not the player.

  2. So far he hasn't done anything that Obama didn't do. We warned everyone at the time they aren't going to like that when another party is in office. Well, now there is - and we memba what dicks those guys were to us the past 8 years.

See, I think Trump is playing the longer game. If he can get the media to completely implode it will take a long time before people trust them again. And by them freaking out over everything people just start to tune them out.
