Safety third.

I was going to talk about retail today, but I injured myself. So, I'm gonna talk about that instead.

I'm not feeling well today. I didn't sleep last night - but it's windy out and I noticed it was chunking one of my new trees. The wood stake that we put in when we planted it seemed fine, but now the tree canopy has grown to three times the size - and the wind is grabbing it and rubbing it against the stake. Deeply gouging it.

I figure I'll go out there and just hammer the stake in deeper. As I was doing so, I lost my grip and the claw hammer came back and hit me in the head.

Now I get to spend the next week walking around with a wife beater bruise right above my left eye.

  1. What?!?! I'm glad you're OK -- better a bruise than losing an eyeball!! Hope you're icing it.

  2. Look at the bright side, if the blow landed just a little bit lower, people would have thought you had herpes instead.

  3. I'm sorry, I know that that had to hurt a lot, but if this was a Jeff Dumham skit, I'd be Peanut, going, "Fmmzzzzzzrrrrhhhmmmmhmmmhmm" trying desperately not to laugh.

Seriously though, contrary to popular belief, it's not funny even WHEN someone loses an eye.

  6. Geez, I sorry for you. This post is sorta old, hope you're better now.
My son in law does that type of stuff. Whacks himself when a nail gets pulled easier than it should, cuts through the circular saw cord instead of around it. on and on. But then he married my kid, just how smart can he be?
(But their daughter is awesome [for a six-foot tall 14 year old])
