In the battle of words - words matter.

I was up in SF today for the Union Solidarity Protest for Wisconsin. It has really been bothering me that the union folk have been comparing themselves to the Arab Revolution. There is absolutely no comparison. I mean unions really align themselves more with our tyrant overlords, don't they? They make it so everyone has to work harder to feed their insatiable needs.

Since there was a union protest - and - a Libyan protest virtually in the same place. I had to go. I had to get some shots of of labor trying to emulate the protests in the middle east. Trying to act like something they are totally not.

We got there about 12 and figured we had enough time to go grab some ramen. The Libyan protest hadn't even set up yet. We were gone for about an hour. By the time we got back the labor protest had completely closed down. Everyone was pretty much gone, and it was only 1:45.

Honestly - it was the shortest protest on record. All the other protests I've been to lasted at least three hours. And I've been to a lot of them. Which I honestly found ironic.

There is something about this shot that bothers me. So many socialist groups there, and a homeless guy sleeping right in front of them.

At this point the labor protesters started to mingle with the Libyan protest. Who pretty much ignored them. To me, this was nice to see.

No rent-a mobs here.

The other interesting thing was as we were coming back from lunch - buses were leaving the protest area. I didn't see the protesters enter the buses, but it made me very suspicious.

  1. I love the Hitler sign, that is classic San Francisco. 50 years ago the barriers to starting your own business were huge and unions had a role, today not so much and in the future even less. It's not so much that they will be banned, they'll just become obsolescent. Interesting that the unions would be hiring guns, it's sad that money controls our politics even down to this level.

  2. I don't think they should be banned. Clearly I am anti union. I am also for the freedom to choose. I just think hard working people will find a better life outside of the union. What will be left will be more of the things we want to get rid of.

The hitler sign was good though. The tea partiers pretty much sanitized their protests from negative signs. And really - it isn't a good protest until the dramatics come out.
